Hello and thanks for dropping by.
We have created a sample site with some generic and some useful content for you.
WordPress started as a ‘blogging-tool’ but is now a universal content management system.
You can still write blog articles, of course.
But you can also have comprehensive content sites (built on page content) and e-commerce (web shops) or portfolios and so many more… The multi-site features even allows you to manage 100’s of ‘landing pages’ from the same back-end…
IF you are reading this, we strongly recommend NOT to purchase “the exciting theme” you see somewhere… anywhere. ONE of the core strength of WordPress is the separation of content and style. Whilst that line is being blurred by page builders like Elementor, Divi and Beaver, it still holds true…
A (free) basic theme (or a slightly more comprehensive one like Astra used on this site in combination with one of the page builders will not only allow you to design a site with the looks of “that theme” – it will allow you to make it yours and follow your needs and wishes!
You will note that we have created the skeleton of this site only once…
We have the following workflow mostly automated…
- create domain or subdomain
- install ssl for the site
- direct to single or multi-site
- install wordpress and confgure it with the MySQL (now MariaDB)
- use wp-cli (the command line tool) to install and configure a default set of plugins
- use wp-cli to install the base theme AND create a child theme
- set-up default content and images (adapted from free sources like pixabay.com)
- configure MainWP plugin to allow for remote management (updates) of the site
Feel free to ask us about those workflows and how we can make it work for you…
We will explain some of these tools and technical approaches in other post…
